Press Release
OWOSSO, MICHIGAN – August 27, 2010 – Wausaukee Composites, a leading manufacturer of engineered composite components for the construction, agricultural equipment, medical, mass transportation and wind energy industries, is planning a major capital investment at its Owosso Charter Township location in response to significant new business activity.
The company plans to invest up to $1.9 million to expand and renovate its existing facility on Delaney Road, with the project expected to create up to 156 new jobs on top of 132 existing jobs. The company which is headquartered in Wausaukee, Wisconsin, has more than 400 employees and over 300,000 square feet of total manufacturing capacity, located at four manufacturing plants in the United States.
"Wausaukee Composites is looking forward to expanding our manufacturing operation in Owosso. We elected to invest at our Michigan plant for a variety of reasons, including location, attractiveness of the community, workforce availability, support from the State of Michigan, and because this will increase the overall value of the product we supply to our customer from our Owosso plant. We are proud to be in a position to create new jobs in Shiawassee County, and we look forward to further expanding our presence in the local community," said Wausaukee Composites, Inc. President & CEO David Lisle.
The Michigan Economic Development Corporation recently announced a Michigan Business Tax credit to support the company's growth, and the Owosso Charter Township Board will consider a request for a local property tax incentive at its September meeting.
"Owosso Charter Township is extremely pleased that Wausaukee Composites has committed to an extensive expansion of its facility in our township. Undoubtedly their significant investment will not only benefit the economic climate of Owosso Charter Township but also that of all of Shiawassee County," said Owosso Charter Township Supervisor Danny Miller.
"I have had the opportunity to work closely with local and corporate representatives on this project, and believe strongly that they have an excellent leadership team and growth opportunities for this plant," said Justin Horvath, President/CEO of the Shiawassee Economic Development Partnership, which has provided project assistance. "We have worked hard with local and state officials to demonstrate our support to help make this expansion happen," Horvath added.
