Sintex Wausaukee Composites is a member and active supporter of several industry associations. With more than 40 certified Composite Technicians (CCT), SWC is active in the promotion, education and advancement of the composite industry and our people. Our efforts include interactions with state and local businesses, economic development councils, chambers of commerce, workforce development commissions, civic, non-profit, and education leaders where we are working to promote economic development, job growth, educational excellence within our community.

American Composite Manufacturers Association

The American Composites Manufacturers Association (ACMA) is the composites industry’s largest trade group in the world.

ACMA provides a forum for members of the composites industry to come together to develop shared market opportunities and deal with common challenges. It is recognized as an unmatched source of up-to-date information about the composites industry as well as the premier provider of educational resources relating to the field.

ACMA advocates for the interests of the composites community, proactively and positively affecting regulatory and legislative outcomes on a wide range of policy issues, including energy and environment, worker health/safety, trade policy and job creation. ACMA works to develop and expand markets for composite products in the U.S. and around the globe.

Society of Plastics Engineers

SPE is the largest, most well-known plastics professional society in the world. We are the professional “home” for nearly 14,000 plastics professionals around the globe. For more than 70 years, we’ve been the “go to” technical information, training, networking, and knowledge-sharing source for plastics professionals who want to advance in their knowledge and their careers.

Many Sintex – Wausaukee engineers and professional are active members of the Detroit chapter of the SPE. The Detroit chapter is the largest in the SPE and their 800 plus members often donate their time to advance the educational and professional development goals of the SPE. The Detroit section members come from Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio, southwest Ontario, and beyond. Members recognize the value that the Detroit section brings to our profession.

Brief Summary of what the Detroit section does:
  1. Since 1998, the Detroit Section has taken responsibility for organizing and running an annual TPO conference.
  2. The Detroit Section co-organizes the AUTOEPCon conference.
  3. The section awards tens of thousands of dollars every year in scholarships to young adults pursuing degrees in the plastics field.
  4. Organizes technical dinner meetings for members to network with colleagues and stay up to date with the latest trends and technologies in the plastics industry.
  5. Sponsors the Plastivan, an outreach program designed to educate kids (11 to 14 yrs old) and help spur interest in science, math, and chemistry.

The North Coast Marine Manufacturing Alliance serves the ship, yacht and boat manufacturers in the region and works to develop a partnership with the leaders in workforce development, educational institutions, and economic development to promote, develop, and grow the industry.
